The Wonderful World of Disney Christmas Tree: Product Review
The most wonderful part of Disney is its timelessness. Each generation enjoys the movies and characters for the first time. And the older generations are more than happy to go back in time to enjoy those movies with their children and grandchildren as if it were for the first time. Little girls delight in Cinderella in her beautiful ball gown and glass slipper and her ride in the pumpkin coach.
Each Disney princess has her own unique charm that captures the imagination of little girls. Little boys fight the dragons and villains and become the heros of the day.
True to Disney’s spirit and tradition of pure imagination, Hawthorne Village (producer of fine collectibles) has created an elaborate new tabletop Christmas decoration called The Wonderful World Of Disney Christmas Tree.
This new decoration is already one of the top sellers on CollectiblesToday.com and is likely to be one of the top selling Christmas collectibles on the entire internet this Christmas.
Last week I received mine in the mail, and being the huge fan of Walt Disney that I am, I must say I had enormous expectations for this collectible.
Below is my personal review of this holiday season’s hottest item.
First Impression
When I removed the Disney Christmas Tree from it’s box and saw it in person for the first time, I must admit, I was absolutely blown away by it’s stunning sparkling beauty. The evergreen trees and rooftops glistened with sparkling snow. The snow looked as if it had been put on in layers with different colors softly showing through. It was dusted with irredescent glitter making it look almost luminous.
The cottages are decorated for the holidays emphasizing the importance of every colorful detail.
The entire tree is decorated with beautiful evergreens glistening with white sparkling snow. Favorite Christmas Carols play as the trains turn, the Princesses and Princes dance and Santa Mickey in Santa’s sleigh circles over Cinderella’s magic castle with Pluto leading the team of reindeer. Each magical level has movement and the music and lights heighten the enchantment.
The first impression was very positive. In fact—I was excited!
Checking Out the Details of the Tree
We adore Mickey Mouse, the great Walt Disney symbol, and his ever-faithful and hillarious dog Pluto. Fun Disney characters including Donald Duck, Goofy, the Seven Dwarfs, Pinocchio, Bambi, and Simba are a few of the characters of The Wonderful World of Disney Christmas Tree. I was already aware that over 50 figures were displayed on the tree, but to find them all I had to look on the back of this fanciful tree. Finding each one is a fun adventure in itself.
Circling above Cinderella’s castle is Santa Mickey in his sleigh full of toys. Pluto leads the reindeer on their exciting Christmas Eve journey. The reindeer are dressed in their Christmas finery and Pluto is sporting a set of antlers. I’m sure the antlers are the secret to his flying skills.
Surrounding Cinderella’s castle on the first level are the Chipmunks, Chip and Dale, Donald and Daisy Duck in their Santa hats, Donald’s nephews, Huey, Dewey and Louie and of course, UncleScrooge. The stationary train shows Engineer Mickey with Pinnoccio and Tinker Bell hitching a ride.
On the second level, the enchanting Disney princesses Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty Aurora, Snow White, Bell, Pocahontes and Ariel the Little Mermaid dance round and round the tree with their princes. Little girls will be captivated as they watch each couple pass by. Even Cinderella’s Pumpkin Coach with the coachman and two horses are waiting nearby.
The third level is adorable; it has so much going on. You can see the Christmas cheer spreading. Bambi and Thumper are checking out a present; Goofy is strolling along in his usual jovial mood with a present in hand and Pinocchio is happily skipping along, just as he did in the movie, and he too, is holding a present. Peter Pan is enjoying the view from a snow covered rooftop and Minnie is adjusting the hat on her snowman friend. On the backside of the Disney Christmas Tree are the characters from Aladdin and Pumbaa and Timon from the Lion King caroling with a little Bluebird. Santa Mickey circles around and around with his train full of toys.
The bottom level is full of action and fun. Little Dumbo sits perched on a snow covered roof top while Simba watches Pooh and his friends enjoying a party with plenty of Christmas presents. You will see Tigger, Roo, and Pigglet stacking presents and Eeyore sadly strolling along and Pooh pulling his decorated wagon containing his hunny pot. Several of Snow White’s dwarf friends also have presents and appear to be on their way to the party as well.
The back of the tree is full of more fun characters. Mrs. Potts and Chip from Beauty and the Beast are out enjoying the snow while the Dalmatians from 101 Dalmatians frolic and play around Lady and the Tramp and Mowgli and Baloo from Jungle Book. And here comes the Mickey express. The train circles the track pulling toys and bringing joy.
It’s Pretty, But Is It Too Fragile?
On first impression I thought the Wonderful World of Disney Christmas Tree was absolutely beautiful. Little characters and scenes told a story of joy, playful fun, the sharing of gifts and a happy holiday celebration. The Disney magic didn’t fail to shine through.
From an aesthetic point of view, it obviously passed the test. But will it hold up for many years to come? It is after all, a collectible with a Certificate of Authenticity. Is it sturdy enough to withstand the curiosity of little fingers?
Well I decided to find out.
First I wiggled and thumped the little Disney figures, but they didn’t budge. Then I grabbed hold of the little trains and tried to pull them off, but to no avail. The were secure.
So the answer is absolutely YES, in my opinion this baby can absolutely withstand the curiosity of little fingers.
Having said that, you still should supervise the children as they enjoy and visually explore the tree. They might be more creative at “testing” the tree than I was. One specific thing children may want to do is grab and hold the trains or sleigh while the tree is turned on. Preventing the the moving parts from moving could potentially mess up the motor.
My Only Complaint
I will admit there’s one tiny detail that I didn’t like at first. On the top level the sleigh and reindeer are circling, but the train is stationary. I would have loved seeing that train circle as well. However, after giving it some thought I realized it’s possible that had the top train been moving there would have been too much movement on the tree. It may have been overkill. So perhaps it’s not really such a bad thing.
Final Thoughts
When you think of everything that’s included on this piece, it really is a fantastic value. It has over 50 (according to CollectiblesToday.com) tiny sculpted, hand-painted Disney characters (although I personally counted 91 figures overall), movement on every level, soft warm lights and a music box that plays some of the World’s most beloved Christmas carols. It’s true, you can’t buy this at the dollar store, but it’s certainly not overpriced – not by a long shot. It really is a fantastic value. Hmmm, did I say that already? Well that’s okay – it deserves emphasis. In fact, I’ll say it again… it really is a fantastic value!
To sum it up: The Wonderful World Of Disney Christmas Tree has art, lights, music, motion, and is loaded with pure Disney imagination. Plus it’s very sturdy and well constructed. In my opinion, it’s truly a complete and impressive package. If you’re at all a fan of Disney, I highly recommend this stunning collectible. It’s too beautiful to pass up.
