Amazing-Christmas-Ideas.com is proud to be an affiliate of the following companies:
That means we earn a commission each time a visitor from our site makes a purchase at one of the above websites.
How we select the companies we promote
As a visitor to our site, your satisfaction is our top priority. We want you to be thrilled with your experience here. To help achieve that goal we are very picky when selecting websites to partner with. We only recommend companies and products we whole-heartedly believe can help you solve your Christmas decorating and gifting needs. We’ve reviewed numerous websites and many have invited us to join their affiliate programs, but to date the above sites are the only ones we’ve agreed to work with.
While no website is perfect, below are a few of the qualifications and questions we research before joining a company’s affiliate program.
• Have we personally bought from the company before?
This is an extremely important point. We are customers of the businesses we promote. In some cases we were customers of these businesses for years before joining their affiliate programs. While we haven’t purchased every product we mention on our site (that would cost tens of thousands of dollars if not hundreds of thousands) we have purchased many of them and are very familiar with the quality of products these companies sell. In the event that we purchase a product from one of our merchant partners that we’re unsatisfied with (which has happened only once) we do not recommend or promote that product.
• Does the business provide a fair return policy?
We only recommend businesses that provide customers with a fair return policy or strong satisfaction guarantee. For example, two of the sites we recommend represent what we consider the gold standard in Satisfaction Guarantees – The Bradford Exchange Online and Hammacher Schlemmer. Not only does The Bradford Exchange Online accept returns for any reason at all, they also cover the shipping cost of returns - they even go so far as to provide a return shipping label with every package. And Hammacher offers a Lifetime Guarantee. The personalized gift sites we promote are understandably a little stricter since personalized items can’t be resold. But they still have fair return policies. Click the links to view each company’s return policy.

o Disney Store

*GourmetGiftBaskets.com does not have their return policy written on their website, but the vice president of their company personally informed us of the following:
“We do offer a 100% satisfaction guarantee to all our customers… it is an extremely rare event that a customer wants to return a product so we handle each one on a case by case basis. No matter what, it is our ultimate goal to make our customer happy.”
- Trudy A. Abood, Vice President of GourmetGiftBaskets.com
• Does the business provide exceptional service?
The bottom line on this is if we get poor customer service from a website or receive reports from other customers, we’re not going to recommend them to our visitors.
• Does the business have good website design and layout?
Nobody likes an eyesore. We do not feel comfortable with directing our visitors to ugly, cluttered, poorly designed websites. We look for websites with sharp graphics, appealing use of color, easy to read fonts, dark text on light backgrounds and nicely balanced space. This may seem superficial, but poorly designed websites reflect poorly on the company and they reflect poorly on us if we recommend them.
• Is the website user-friendly?
Any website we promote must be easy to use. That means their products must be logically organized, navigation must be clear and the ordering process must be simple, and product images must be sharp, clear and preferably large or zoom-able. We know how frustrating it can be when a website has “mish-mash” navigation with hard-to-find products and product images that are small, grainy and poorly lit.
• Does the business sell only high quality, family-friendly products?
We try to focus on recommending sites that (in our opinion) sell unique, high quality items you can’t find just anywhere. Low quality products do not and will not ever be recommended on Amazing-Christmas-Ideas.com. It’s also important to note that sites we promote only sell family-friendly products that are appropriate for the content of our site – but you probably already knew that!
• How long has the company been in business?
We only promote long-standing businesses. Most of the companies we partner with have been in business for over ten years and have exceptional track records – one has been in business for over a hundred years. Rest assured that the companies we recommend are not fly-by-nighters.
• Is the website safe and secure?
On the majority of the sites we partner with, you’ll notice little logos that say things like McAfee SECURE, VeriSign Secured or Secured by GeoTrust. These logos signify the website is tested regularly for security. The few sites we promote that don’t display a security logo have absolutely outstanding reputations and apply all the necessary methods for online shopping security.
How we select specific products to write about
It’s important to reiterate that while we haven’t purchased every product we recommend or write about on our website, we have purchased many of them. We have spent thousands of dollars and hundreds of hours shopping on the sites we promote. When we write about or recommend various products, we base our opinions on either our own direct experience with the product or on our own experiences with similar or closely related products and on how well we believe it will help you solve your problems or meet your needs. For example – as owners or purchasers of The Bradford Exchange Online’s Thomas Kinkade Wonderland Express Christmas Tree, the Wonderful World of Disney Christmas Tree and the Collectible Irish Nativity Scene Tabletop Tree we can confidently recommend similar tabletop trees from The Bradford Exchange Online knowing that their tabletop trees are of extremely high quality.
How we review specific products
From time to time we write detailed reviews of specific products we’ve either purchased or were provided to us by the company. Here are a few of the things we look for when reviewing products.
• We check how well the product meets our expectations.
We always compare the actual product to the description and photos on the product order page. It’s extremely rare, but if we and when we find a discrepancy, we mention it in the review and we contact the company. We once found a discrepancy in color between the product image and the actual product itself. We alerted the company and in a few days the product image was corrected with a near perfect color match.
• We check for product durability.
It’s important that a product be able to hold up to the use it was designed and intended for. We don’t go nuts beating up products or dumping water on them or anything of that nature, but we try to treat them the way we feel most people will treat them plus a little more. Sometimes, depending on the product, we turn them over to children for a few minutes to see what sort of “durability tests” they come up with. Obviously, we report any potential durability problems in our reviews.
• We consider other people’s opinions.
Many of the products we review are Christmas decorations. When we display these items we make note of how other people, friends and family (especially children) respond these items. Their opinions and responses definitely influence our reviews. In the case children, we frequently describe their reactions in the review.
• We study the details.
Because most businesses carry hundreds or thousands of products, they usually don’t have the time or resources to describe every little detail in their product descriptions. When we review a product (most of which are décor products) we take the time to describe in detail all the unique subtleties each item possesses. When necessary we also take our own pictures, from different angles and under different lighting, to accurately describe the product and help answer any questions people may have about the product.
It’s important to point out that we always give our honest opinion to the best of our abilities when reviewing products. Although we do earn a commission when a visitor we refer makes a purchase at one of our partner sites, we are in no way obligated to write a positive review nor is it necessary in order for us to have a successful website. We are not here to hock crummy products. Our loyalties lie first and foremost with our website visitors. If we purchase or receive a crummy product, we will certainly take the opportunity to vent our frustrations just as any other customer would.
How to distinguish between different types of links on our site
There are three types of links to external websites on our site. Regular direct links, affiliate links and Google Adsense links. The affiliate links can be identified by unusual looking URLs that redirect to one of the sites listed above. An affiliate URL usually looks something like this:
… OR …
